Mignori Is Back — Restarting the Journey

Mignori Is Back

If you’ve been following Mignori for a long time, this post is long overdue.

Mignori 3 originally launched on TestFlight years ago as a replacement for Mignori 1, which launched in 2014 on the iOS App Store, a native iOS client for booru-style imageboards that focused on speed, simplicity, and respect for the way these platforms actually work. The app gained interest, but life, work, and other projects got in the way, and Mignori ended up frozen in beta far longer than it ever should have been.

That changes now.

I’ve officially returned to Mignori, and this time the goal is clear: finish it properly.

A Fresh Start, Built From Scratch

Rather than continuing to patch an old codebase, Mignori is being rewritten entirely from the ground up.

This rewrite is not just a cleanup. It is a full reset that allows the app to scale correctly, support more booru engines, and provide a modern media experience that feels at home on today’s versions of iOS.

This also means better performance, cleaner architecture, and a foundation that can evolve instead of stagnating.

What’s New (and What’s Coming)

The new Mignori focuses on doing booru browsing right.

Improved Booru Support

Mignori now has broader and more reliable support for booru engines, with better tag handling, pagination, and post metadata parsing.

A Powerful Media Viewer

The built-in viewer supports images of all sizes, animated GIFs, and a wide range of video formats commonly used by booru sites.

Everything is designed to load quickly, scale correctly, and feel native.

Save What You Like

You can save images, GIFs, and videos directly to your Camera Roll.

Saved media preserves its quality and is handled consistently across formats, as long as the format is supported by iOS and your device grants Mignori permission to access the Photos library.

Collections

Mignori lets you build your own tiny, in-app booru using Collections.

You can organize saved images, GIFs, and videos into Collections so your favorite content stays easy to find, revisit, and browse later, instead of getting lost in a generic dump.

Collections are still under development. When ready, the feature will be released to users through TestFlight first to ensure it works as intended.

Detailed Post Information

Each post exposes useful metadata, tags, and source links.

No guesswork. The information is there when you want it.

A Commitment to Finish Mignori

The most important change is not a feature. It is intent.

Mignori is no longer an abandoned beta or a side experiment. It is an active project again, with a clear path toward a finished release. Development is ongoing, features are being built deliberately, and decisions are being made with long-term maintenance in mind.

Supporting Development

Mignori is being developed independently. If you like the direction the app is heading and want to support its development, tips are now available.

Tips help fund the time and effort required to bring Mignori to completion and show support for the project’s continued development.

Tips do not grant early access, special features, discounts, or any form of preference. The final version of Mignori will still require a subscription, regardless of whether a tip was made. Tips are strictly voluntary contributions, with no expectation of reward.

What’s Next

The TestFlight beta is reopening and you can join today. Updates will start landing regularly, and this blog will track Mignori’s progress as it moves toward a full release.

Thank you to everyone who stuck around all these years, and welcome back to Mignori.
